White House Names Conditions of Trump’s Visit to Moscow

President of the United States Donald Trump is ready to visit Moscow as soon as he receives an official invitation, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said.

Sanders said that Trump hopes that President Putin will come to Washington after the first year of Trump’s presidency and he is open to visiting Moscow after receiving an official invitation.

On Friday, President Putin announced that he had invited Trump to come to Moscow. He called the meetings with the US president useful and added that he was ready to come to Washington himself, but only “if appropriate conditions for work are created there.”

Earlier, Trump invited Putin to visit Washington this autumn, but on July 25, US National Security Adviser John Bolton said that the meeting was delayed: Washington believes that it should be held only in the following year when the special prosecutor Robert Mueller, who is investigating the alleged interference of Russia in the 2016 elections, should complete its work.

Putin and Trump met on July 16 in Helsinki. Prior to that, the presidents had met twice: in July 2017 at the G20 summit in Hamburg, and at the APEC summit in Danang (Vietnam) last November.
