Arizona Governor Doug Ducey decided to appoint former Senator John Kyl to replace the late John McCain in the US Senate. Ducey confirmed his choice on Twitter.
Ducey pointed out that Kyl has about 20 years of work in the Senate behind him. He worked with McCain.
The official announcement of Kyl’s appointment is expected to take place later in the day in Arizona capital Phoenix.
Republican John Kyl was a US senator from Arizona from 1995 to 2013. Previously, from 1987 to 1995, he was a member of the US House of Representatives.
Senator John McCain died on August 25th at the 82nd year of his life after losing the battle to brain cancer, which lasted about a year.
