A bald middle-aged man holding a large American flag walked into the lobby of Trump National Resort in Doral early Friday morning and made several firing rounds.
The gunman, whose identity remains unknown, ranted about President Trump, draped an American flag on the counter before embarking on the spree.
The police that arrived to a call got involved in a shootout in the lobby. During the gunfight, the unidentified man sustained several wounds in the lower body and was rushed to a hospital, Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez said at a news conference.
“He’s at the hospital stable. Don’t know how many times he was hit,” Perez told a news conference on Friday morning.
No resort employee or guest were injured, however a cop who participated in the shootout has broken his wrist.
The man in custody was not identified, and his motives remain unclear. Authorities do not believe the shooting was related to terrorism.
