Polish president, Andrzej Duda, has visited United States and met his counterpart, Donald Trump. The meeting comes with some intrigue and despite important results for both parties was accepted critically.
Polish President Andrzej Duda, after one-on-one talks with US leader Donald Trump, said he urged the US to consider establishing a permanent American military base in his country. “I would very much like for us to set up a permanent American base in Poland…” Duda said as quoted by the Associated Press.
In a desperate attempt to excel in personal relations Duda has proposed a name for the military base to come: Fort Trump. US president wasn’t ready for such excessive loyalty.
3000 US soldiers are stationed in Poland on a rotational basis. Warsaw would like to increase the American contingent and its permanent presence in the country. Duda administration is ready to pay $ 2 billion to make it happen. The US can make a decision on this issue early next year.
Meanwhile people attention was grabbed by inequality in representation of US and Polish president. While US president has signed the final documents seated the Polish colleague was forced to stand and bend before the desk. Many Poles had found it an insult to the national dignity.
Answering the question whether the US agrees on the proposal of Poland, Trump said:
“I am with the president [Duda]. I feel that he is right.”
