The collapse of a motorway bridge in Italy let to the death of at least about 39 people, five more are in critical condition, local authorities reported citing the death of “dozens”.
Video footage from the site of the tragedy in Genoa show several broken vehicles with dead ones under the rubble.
A collapsed section of the bridge, dozens of metres in length, had mostly fallen on to rail tracks below along with cars and trucks.
Hundreds of rescue workers are operating on the scene. Built in the 1960s The Morandi Bridge is part of the A10 toll motorway. It runs across the span of the Polcevera river.
